The simplest recipe to create one of the silkiest, most decadent vegan tahini date caramels ever! All it takes, is 5 ingredients and 5 minutes of your time. Perfect to drizzle over your healthy desserts or simply for dipping some apple slices.
Despite being simple, this is probably one of my favorite recipes on the blog. How can I not love it when it’s so easy to make such a delicious batch of total goodness that can be used for so many different things. It can be used as part of many other delicious recipes or just to enhance your healthy treats. Which reminds me, if you dig this rich tahini date caramel , you will absolutely love these vegan caramel chocolates . That rich caramel flavor just brings these recipes to a whole other level.
One of the many perks of this healthy tahini date caramel is, you won’t need any butter or cream, so it is dairy-free and vegan.
If you browse through my blog you might notice another tahini caramel recipe I did awhile back. Don’t worry, I promise I’m not getting lazy on you! This first recipe is delicious as well (of course) but it was also made before I discovered date syrup and perfected the consistency of this amazing caramel by balancing the ratio of the ingredients. One of my favorite parts of being in this business is when I make new breakthroughs like this…it’s so satisfying when you finally taste the difference it makes.
How to make the perfect tahini date caramel:
So, now for the simple recipe as advertised. All you need is a small saucepan and 5 ingredients. Minus the date syrup, there’s a good chance you’ll have everything you need in your pantry already.
- tahini
- coconut oil
- salt
- date syrup
- maple syrup
If you don’t have date syrup at home or wouldn’t know where to look at the store, you can always use just maple syrup, but you won’t be able to achieve that dark amber color and the really awesome consistency that really makes this recipe pop.
Simply mix the ingredients in a small saucepan over low heat until combined. Et voila! You got yourself the most perfect tahini date caramel!

Hey Rachel,
did you use a light maple syrup (amber color)? It should be the same color as pictured.
Best,
