Rudolph the red-nosed donut. These guys are gluten-free, paleo and refined sugar-free. If you have any holiday parties coming up, then these fun little reindeer donuts are the perfect way to spread some healthy Christmas cheer.
Who says there’s an age limit on having fun in the kitchen? Not me! These cute little reindeer donuts were so much fun and super easy to prepare. I gotta say though, these pretzel antlers took a while to pull off. Turns out its not so easy to break pretzels into the shape you want. 5 minutes and a bowl of shattered pretzels later I think I nailed it. Totally worth the effort too. The pretzels add a nice savory crunch to the donut that works really well.
The story of Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer is not a big thing in Austria, but I really love these traditional American kid’s stories that always come around this time of year. I decided to take inspiration from one of the classics.
Christmas is almost here and the last couple weeks flew by so quick. I was super busy in the kitchen baking up delicious christmas cookies and other goodies, but before I share those tasty recipes I wanted to bring you guys these chocolate glazed reindeer donuts. They are gluten-free and refined sugar-free. Perfect alternative to enjoy during this…erm…calorically dense festive season. Plus, it would be a great idea to decorate these guys with your kids on a relaxed winter weekend.
How to make these deliciously fun and easy reindeer donuts:
- these guys are mini donuts so you will need a mini donut pan. Don’t forget to grease with coconut oil spray. Especially if you live in a high altitude state like me 😛
- The batter couldn’t be any easier. You just gotta mix it all together in a bowl and pipe it into the donut pan.
- To decorate you will need some candy eyes, gluten-free mini pretzels and cranberries. The cranberries are not meant to be eaten since they are very tart but you can always sugar coat them if you prefer that.
- To make them healthier I like to use stevia sweetened chocolate or sweeten the chocolate with a little bit of maple syrup.
Thats it. Super simple and so delicious. I’d suggest you prepare these with your kiddos before the holiday season is over :). Time is flying.
