Vegan Chocolate Marble Glaze

Today I have for you a simple recipe to turn these tasty donuts into beautiful works of art. This 5 minute vegan chocolate marble glaze is a simple technique to make your desserts look absolutely stunning. It’s super easy and will impress your family and friends with absolutely no effort.

Chocolate Marble Glaze

Have you ever admired some of the beautiful marbled desserts on sites like Pinterest?  If so, you’re not alone 😛  Marbled cookies, cake pop, macarons, and meringues, I’ve come across so many gorgeous creations, but never attempted it myself until now 🙂

Achieving a perfectly smooth marbling like this always seemed like it must be super hard to pull off, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. I was able to create this vegan chocolate marble glaze for my donuts in under 10 minutes with only 3 main ingredients.

Vegan Chocolate Marble Glaze

What do you need to create a beautiful marble glaze.

To achieve this look, you want to choose at least two contrasting colors. A lighter pigmented color will work best as a base that you can add the second color into, which will allow that contrast to come through spectacularly. Normally you’d use sugar icing, but to make it healthier I suggest using vegan/paleo white chocolate, cacao butter or coconut butter.

With a white base, you can add any sort of natural coloring to it: freeze dried raspberry powder, beetroot powder, turmeric powder, butterfly pea powder, matcha powder, etc. There is really no reason to add any artificial food dyes.

For this recipe I simply used vegan white chocolate, coconut butter and dark chocolate. Now that I’ve mastered the marble glaze, I will definitely be experimenting with other colors in the future 🙂

How to create the marble pattern

As I mentioned above, there is really no science behind creating that beautiful marble effect.

First, melt white chocolate/coconut butter and dark chocolate in two separate saucepans. Once you have liquified your chocolate, transfer that into two separate bowls again and set aside.

To create that contrast from light to dark, drop a few teaspoons of dark chocolate into the white chocolate/coconut butter mix. Draw a wooden skewer or spoon through the darker chocolate to make swirl patterns inside the white chocolate. Remember, you’re not mixing this, you’re just lightly making swirl patterns with the darker chocolate in the white chocolate.

Now carefully dunk each donut face down into the glaze and lift right up. Hold the donuts by the side with the tips of your fingers and let the chocolate drip off for a few seconds. When the chocolate is only dripping slightly, transfer your beautiful creation onto a cooling rack or parchment paper. After every other donut, add a little bit of extra white chocolate and dark chocolate into the bowl and create new swirls. Let donuts dry for about 20-30 minutes and serve immediately.

Seems pretty simple, right? Like I always say, it looks a lot harder than it is. Plus it is the perfect activity to do with your kiddos. Be creative and have fun!
