This sweet and salty healthy Kettle Corn is as crunchy and satisfying as you might expect with one exception…you guessed it! it’s way healthier than the classic sugary snack you’re probably familiar with. This delicious maple cinnamon popcorn is going to sweeten your movie night just the right amount and will be a highlight to remember đ
Before I get into the details of the most delicious movie snack, I have to confess something to you. This doesn’t happen very often but for this recipe I can’t call myself the sole creator. While cooking is usually not his strongest trait, my husband is the popcorn junkie between the two of us. Â He always makes a perfect batch.
Growing up, my sisters and I enjoyed microwaved popcorn while movies like Snow White, The Last Unicorn and Marry Poppins (we watched that movie every weekend for years). So when I met my husband, he introduced me to the “Lets make it ourselves” version and I can tell you the popcorn he makes, tastes incredible. You could even say, he won me over with those non existent cooking skills lol.
Long story short, he prepared this batch of popcorn for me. After that, all I had to do was heat some maple syrup, mix it in with the popcorn, salt and cinnamon, and bake it in the oven for about 30 minutes. Thats all it takes to create a crunchy, sweet and salty movie snack. So fast, so simple and so delicious.
On a side note, to prepare the popcorn he used my Le Creuset Dutch Oven. It works really well when making homemade popcorn.
This delicious maple cinnamon popcorn is more than just a snack. You can be creative and incorporate it in other recipes. Here is an idea:

Healthy Kettle Corn
This delicious maple cinnamon popcorn is going to sweeten your movie night just the right amount and will be a highlight to remember đ
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup corn kernels
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- pinch of nutmeg
- pinch of salt
- 1 tbsp avocado oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit.
- In a large dutch oven or pan* heat a little bit of oil over medium heat. Add kernels and cover with a lid. Wait until it starts to pop and shake the pan every 15 second or so. Let the kernels pop for 4-5 minutes until almost all of the kernels have popped and then shut the burner off.**. Make sure to let the pan sit with the lid on for a minute or two after you think the kernels are done popping, I promise you there will be a few late bloomers that will still go off, showering your kitchen floor in popcorn.
- In the meantime heat maple syrup in a small pan over medium-high heat until it starts to foam/boil. SImmer for 2-4 minutes. Pour maple syrup over popcorn and combine quickly. Add cinnamon, salt and combine well. Spread onto a lined baking sheet and bake in the oven for about 30-35 minutes. Take out of the oven and set aside. The kettle corn will crisp up as it cools down.
Notes
*Make sure to use a pan that has a lid. If the popcorn starts to push the lid off, remove it from the heat immediately.
**Don't worry if there are a few kernels left unpopped, stop heating the batch when there is 5 seconds between pops
