Did you ever find yourself craving chai and chocolate at the same time? Well if you’re a chocolate freak like me then you definitely have. I don’t know where it came from, but in a sudden fit of inspiration, I had the idea to develop a chai spiced truffle recipe. These tasty little bites are absolutely decadent and have some seriously rich dark chocolate flavor that will just melt in your mouth. The spiced chai flavor pairs so well with it, you will be totally blown away.
Healthy chocolate truffles are hard to come by so I usually make my own when I have the cravings. Last Christmas I experimented with chai quite a lot, and that’s when I really got a feeling for the flavor profile. I can’t believe I didn’t try a recipe like this back then, as it’s super simple and only requires about 10-15 minutes of your time, but hey, you can’t rush perfection.
How to make the perfect healthy chai spiced truffles
- make sure to use the correct ratio ofchocolate, milk and coconut oil. If you use too much chocolate they won’t be as fudgy and if you use too much liquid they won’t harden enough to hold a shape
- To nail that chai flavor you need to infuse all the necessary spices into your coconut milk. You could add the spices and black tea into your coconut milk and let it sit in the refrigerator overnight or simply simmer it for 5-10 minutes.
- Let the mixture sit in the fridge to harden for at least 3 hours before you roll your truffles.
- The regular truffles that you can buy usually contain lots of sugar. To make a healthier version, either use stevia sweetened/paleo chocolate or incorporate medjool dates after straining your chai milk mixture.
